Challenging Thorong La Pass

Thorong La Pass is the most challenging and highest pass in the Himalayas. The route to this pass is steep, rugged, and slippery. You have to be very careful while climbing to the top of the pass. However, after a strenuous climb, you get to see an astonishing view from the top of this pass.

Holy Muktinath Temple

Muktinath Temple is one of the very important religious sites for Hindus and Buddhists. Only in this place, hundreds of pilgrims visit this place to worship and wash-off their sins in its holy pond.

Annapurna Circuit Trek difficulty

Overall Annapurna Circuit Trek is a difficult trek that demands good health and physical fitness. The trail combines many ascends & descends through a rugged and steep path. You have to walk 5 to 6 hours a day. Moreover, during Annapurna Circuit Trek 16 Days, you will cross challenging Thorong La Pass that will surely check your endurance.

Previous trekking experience will help you a lot in this trek. With all these also comes the risk of high altitude sickness. It happens when your body does not acclimatize with the altitude properly. We have included ample rest days in our itinerary to make sure, you do not face altitude sickness. 

Best time to go on Annapurna Circuit Trek

March to May i.e. spring and October to November i.e. Autumn is the best time to go on Annapurna Circuit Trekking. From our past experience, these months have the most stable weather and moderate climate. The day remains pretty warm, good for walking and views are also clear. 

Other months are not preferable for Annapurna Circuit Trek. Winter blocks many parts of the trail due to heavy snowfall, whereas Monsoon makes the trail slippery and full of bugs. Similarly, the views are not the best at all.

Food & Accommodation during Annapurna Circuit Trek

During Annapurna Circuit Trek, you will stay overnight in lodge. You can expect to have basic facilities in the lodge. Rooms are generally small with a common washroom most of the time. You have to share a room with a fellow trekker. The rooms will not be the warmest place in the lodge, but you can spend some time in the dining area, which is more like common space and is very warm & cozy.

All the meals will be served as per the menu of the lodge. This region offers a good variety of food. Dishes like rice, curries, chapati, veggies, soups, momo, noodles, pasta, bread, eggs, meat, porridge, pudding, and other dishes are available. Likewise, you can get boiled water from the lodge and refill your bottle every time it gets empty. Plastic water bottles can get very expensive and also not recommended to buy as it helps to protect the region. Water purification tablets are the best way for extra safety.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will get greeted by one of our team delegates. He/she will take you to the hotel that we have already booked for you. You can rest and explore the vibrant streets of Thamel. In the late evening, you will join the welcome dinner organized by the company.

Day 2: Sightseeing

The day begins early with delicious breakfast and a warm cup of coffee. You go on a guided sightseeing tour, where you will visit an ancient temples, shrines, palaces, and courtyards. We have arranged a professional guide with you who will brief you about all the places you will visit. In the late afternoon, you prepare for the trek.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Bhulbhule (845m); 200 km west of Kathmandu

From today your adventurous journey to Bhulbhule begins. You drive from Kathmandu along Trishuli River to Pokhara. From here, you continue driving in the north to Besisahar and then to Bhulbhule. During the ride, you get to witness wonderful views of a lush green hill, snow-capped mountains, colorful terraced fields, and small villages.

Day 4: Trek Bhulbhule to Jagat (1,300m); 5 hrs

Today is the first day of your trek. Following a beautiful trail, you trek through lush forest and terraced fields. The trail move along Marsyangdi river, and further, passes through many small villages to take you to Jagat.

Day 5: Jagat to Dharapani (1,860m); 5 hrs

Leaving Jagat behind, you descend to a river and walk through a lush forest. Further, the trail ascends to a sharp-edge cliff from where you trek enjoying a superb view of towering Annapurna range. You cross a suspension bridge and ascend on a steep trail. The trail then passes through Sattale and Tal. From here, you walk on a rugged and winding path that slowly leads you to Dharapani crossing a suspension bridge.

Day 6: Dharapani to Chame (2,610m); 6 hrs

The trail goes through forest ridges and takes you to Chame. It is the headquarters of the Manang District. While trekking, you get to see stunning views of Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Lamjung Himal, and other mountains.

Day 7: Chame to Pisang (3,115m); 6 hrs

From Chame, you begin walking on a steep narrow path that passes through a dense forest. You will reach a dramatic curved rock face. It will be tough to pass this path. The valley soon opens up and climbs to Pisang. Before reaching Pisang, you get to see a huge rock face (1,500 m).

Day 8: Pisang to Manang (3,540m); 5 hrs

From Pisang, two routes lead to Manang. You will follow the route that passes through Geru as it is very scenic. As you will get the elevation, the climate becomes cold & dries with the difference in vegetation. Manang is a beautiful village with kind locals. You will visit the ancient Barge monastery.

Day 9: Acclimatization day

This day is extra in Manang village for rest. Having a rest day in between the trek will give time to your body to adjust to the altitude and keep you away from the altitude sickness. Today, you will explore the village and interact with the locals. You also go on a short hike to Bhojo Guma or Gangapurna Lake.

Day 10: Manang to Ledar (4,200m); 5/6 hrs

From Manang, the trail gradually ascends towards Ledar. Leaving the Marshyangdi Valley, you reach Tenki and continue walking along Jarsang Khola that will take you Ledar.

Day 11: Ledar to High Camp (4,600m); 4/5 hrs

You descend and cross a river. Further, the trail ascends to Phedi (4,420 m). From here, you walk on a rugged path enjoying excellent views and reach High Camp.

Day 12: High Camp to Muktinath (3,760m) via Thorong La Pass (5,416m); 9 hrs

Today is going to be the most challenging and longest day on your trek. You wake up early and begin ascending towards the Thorong La Pass. It is the highest passes in Nepal. The route to this pass is steep and full of boulders. Upon reaching the pass, you get to see the breath-taking landscape. Further, you descend to one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in Nepal, Muktinath Temple.

Day 13: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720m); 5 hrs

You will begin the day visiting Muktinath Temple early in the morning. After that, you descend and join the Kali Gandaki river valley. Trekking through small villages, you reach Jomsom, the headquarters of Mustang.

Day 14: Jomsom to Pokhara

From Jomsom, you take an early morning flight to Pokhara. The flight offers tempting views of Annapurna Himalayas. As you land at Pokhara airport, one of our team members will take you to the hotel. You can rest for the day or visit some tourist sites.

Day 15: Pokhara to Kathmandu

You have both options to fly/drive to Kathmandu. Either way, you get to witness wonderful views. After reaching Kathmandu, you move to the hotel. You can use the left day to do shopping and rest. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner organized by the company.

Day 16: Departure

You wake up early and prepare to leave. As per your flight departure time, our team representative will take you to the airport and wishes you a safe flight back to your home.
