This is the arrival day in Kathmandu. Meet with one of our team delegates at the airport terminal gate. He/she takes you to the hotel and shortly briefs you about the day program. Rest and explore the nearby areas of the hotel. In the late evening, you meet with other team members over welcome dinner (complementary by the company).
Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft).
Day 2 Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek Preparation.
This extra day is for the preparation of the EBC trek. In the morning, you will visit a few UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, extra. Later, in the afternoon, you meet the trek guide. He will brief you about the trail and do the final packing along with you. Re-check all the gears and permits. Also, you can do shopping if needed.
Day 3 Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft): 8 km, 3 - 4 hours trek.
Take an early morning flight to Lukla. The flight is 35 minutes long and presents tempting aerial views of the Himalayas. Upon landing at the Lukla airport, you meet with the rest of the crew members who will join you for the trek. From Lukla, the trail descends the Phakding located at the bank of the Dudh Koshi river.
Day 4 Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m/11,280 ft): 11km, 5 - 6 hours.
The trail from Phakding onwards goes through Sagarmatha National Park and leads you to Namche Bazar. Monjo is the starting point of the park. The trail gradually ascends through dense forests, crossing many bridges & streams. Along the way, you can see diverse vegetation and fauna. The trail will be steep and tough on
Day 5 Acclimatization Day
Today is a rest day in Namche Bazar, an important day for acclimatization. You will go on a hike to the Everest View Hotel, famous for stunning views of snow-capped mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Thamserku, etc. Likewise, you will visit the Everest Photo Gallery and the Sherpa Culture Museum. You will have ample time to explore the village and spend time with the locals.
Day 6 Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,870m/12,694ft): 10km, 5 - 6 hours.
The trek begins and goes through a lovely rhododendron forest. Trekking through remote villages, you reach Imja Khola. Along the way, views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse, and Nuptse are visible. The trail Imja Khola ascends to Tengboche, where you will visit the oldest and the biggest monastery of the Khumbu region, Tengboche monastery.
Day 7 Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300 ft): 9km, 5 - 6 hours.
From Tengboche, you descend through lush forest and reach Deboche. The trail then crosses many suspension bridges over the Imja Khola and moves towards Pangboche. Visiting ancient Pangboche monastery, you continue ascending to reach Dingboche, the summer valley of the Khumbu region.
Day 8 Acclimatization.
Today is the second rest day in Dingboche. Acclimatization days in between the trek is very crucial for a successful and smooth journey. You will hike to Nagarjun Hill from where stunning views of Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Lobuche Peak, Taboche Peak, etc are seen. Dingboche is a beautiful village with small restaurants, bakeries, and shops. Spend the rest of the day observing the daily lifestyle of the locals and mingling with them.
Day 9 Dingboche to Lobuche (4,940 m/16,207 ft): 7km, 5-6 hours.
The trail from Dingboche passes through pastures and terraced fields. As you will approach Lobuche, the vegetation will gradually change. The trail is beautiful and offers phenomenal views of snow-capped mountains like Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbutse, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, etc.
Day 10 : Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m/17,594 ft) via Gorak Shep (5,170m/16,961ft); 6-7 hrs
Today is the big day. The trail will lead you to Everest Base Camp, the lap of the world's highest mountain, Mt. Everest. The trail from Lobuche slowly ascends along Khumbu Glacier moraine. Passing by Gorak Shep, you climb to the base camp. Spend some time at the base camp and drop down to Gorak Shep for a night stay.
Day 11 Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192ft) to Pherice (4,288m/14,070ft): 16km, 7-8 hours.
Today, you will wake up early and ascend towards the Kala Patthar. The trail is steep and rugged. From the top of the Kala Patthar, you get to see the gorgeous sunrise and 360-degree views of Everest. Further, the trail slowly descends to Pheriche for a night stay.
Day 12 Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,280 ft): 20km, 6 - 7 hours.
Leaving Pheriche behind, you trek through rhododendron forests. Crossing several suspension bridges, you reach Tengboche. The trail then descends to Namche Bazar through Pangboche and other small villages.
Day 13 Namche Bazaar to Phakding (3,438m/11,280 ft): 11km, 5 - 6 hours.
After having breakfast, you will retrace the path. The trail descends through Sagarmatha National Park. Trekking through villages like Monjo and Jorsale, you reach Phakding village to spend the night.
Day 14 Phakding to Lukla (2,860m/9,186ft): 8 km, 3 - 4 hours trek.
The trail moves along the Dudh Koshi river and ascends towards Lukla. You trek through lush forests. The trail will be steep at some point. It is going to be a short trekking day today.
Day 15 Fly to Kathmandu & Kathmandu sightseeing
You will take a morning flight back to Kathmandu. During the flight, witness the last views of the Himalayas and break-taking scenery. Upon landing at Kathmandu, move to the hotel. The rest of the day is free. Relax and do shopping. Visit tourist sites and explore the vibrant streets of Thamel. In the evening, meet with team members for the last time over the farewell dinner organized by the company.
Day 16 Final departure.
Time to say goodbye to each other. Your journey with us comes to an end. You will leave for your home or next destination today. Airport drop is included as per your flight departure time.
