Everest High Passes Trek Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)

    Our airport representative will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport. He takes you to the hotel, which we have pre-booked for you. Enjoy a few hours relaxing and meet with other team members over a complimentary dinner organized by the company.

  • Day 2 Sightseeing and trek preparation

    It is an extra day in Kathmandu for trek preparation. In the morning, you will go on a guided sightseeing tour of monuments like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, etc. Later in the day, you will meet with your trek leader/guide. Take a briefing about the trip, and do the final packing. If anything is missing, you can go shopping.

  • Day 3 Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m); 40 minutes flight & 3-4 hrs trek

    Everest Three High Passes trek begins from Lukla, the starting point of the journey. You will take a morning flight to reach Lukla. The flight will be thrilling, and you can see phenomenal aerial views of the Himalayas. Meet with other crew members after landing at Lukla airport and begin trekking towards Phakding.

    The trail descends to Thado Koshi River, where you will cross a suspension bridge. Further, enjoying the beautiful view of Mt. Kusum Kanguru, you will pass by Ghat village and reach Phakding for a night stay. Here, you will visit Rimishung Monastery.

  • Day 4 Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m); 5-6 hrs

    Trek along the northern bank of the Dudh Koshi River crossing several suspension bridges. You will reach a village called Monjo from where Sagarmatha National Park starts. The trail further goes through dense forests along steep & rugged paths. From the park, the trail mostly ascends to Namche Bazar, therefore it can be an exhausting walk for many trekkers. Namche Bazar welcomes you with an excellent view of Mt. Everest.

  • Day 5 Acclimatization day

    We have added ample rest days along the journey to make sure you are getting enough time to adjust to the altitude and enjoy the mountain life to the fullest. Today is the first rest day in Namche Bazar, the tourist hub of the Khumbu region. To acclimatize your body, you will go on short hikes to the Everest View Hotel. This place is very famous for offering stunning views of Mt. Everest from its windows. Likewise, Namche Bazar has many cafes with WiFi service, where you can enjoy some time. Also, don't forget to visit the Everest Photo Gallery and the Sherpa Culture Nepal.

  • Day 6 Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m); 5-6 hrs

    The trail from Namche Bazar gradually descends to Dudh Kosi Valley. You will reach Pungki Thanka and ascend along the right flank of the valley. The trail goes through lovely forests of rhododendron, oak, pine, etc to Tengboche village. Here, you get to explore the oldest and the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region known as the Tengboche monastery. You can see superb views of Mt. Ama Dablam throughout the trail today. If the sky is clear, Mt. Everest is visible as well.

  • Day 7 Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360m); 5-6 hrs

    Leaving Tengboche behind, you go through lush forest and cross Imja Khola. The trail then moves along Pangboche village, where you will quickly visit an ancient monastery. You can see beautiful views of Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam, and others on the trail. Further, the trail continues along pastures and takes you to the Summer Valley of Khumbu region, Dingboche village.

  • Day 8 Acclimatization day

    Here comes the second rest day in Dingboche village. You will go on a 3-4 hours hike to Nagarjun Hill (5,050 m). The top of this hill offers captivating views of Mt. Thamserku, Lobuche East, Lobuche West, Mt. Kantega, Mt. Ama Dablam, and Taboche Peak. After some time, descend to Dingboche village. Enjoy the rest of the day exploring the village and chit chatting with locals.

  • Day 9 Dingboche to Chhukung (4,750m), climb Chhukung Ri (5,546m); 6–7 hrs

    Cross a stream and walk along the Dudh Koshi River. The trail presents beautiful views of Island Peak, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Everest, and Mt. Ama Dablam. The trail will be gentle and short. Upon reaching Chhukung village, you take a small break and have lunch. Later, you will hike to Chhukung Ri, from where stunning views of the snow-capped mountains are visible. Descend back to the village to spend the night.

  • Day 10 Cross Kongma La Pass (5,535m) and trek to Lobuche (4,940m); 6-7 hrs

    Unlike the last day, today is going to be a long and difficult walk. The day begins early. You gradually ascend towards the upper valley of Kongma La through the rugged and desert area. The top of the pass offers spectacular views of many Himalayan mountains and Khumbu Glacier. Spend some time enjoying the landscape and descend to Lobuche village for a night stay.

  • Day 11 Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) via Gorak Shep (5,170m); 6-7 hrs

    Today, it is going to be an exciting day because you will reach the Everest Base Camp, the lap of the world's highest mountain. The trail goes through the Khumbu Glacier moraine along with the Dudh Koshi river. Reach Gorak Shep, the first base camp of Everest. From here, you walk on the sharp rocky trail that leads to the top of Khumbu Glacier. A couple of hour's walk from here takes you to the EBC. Spend some time at the base camp and descend to Gorak Shep to spend the night.

  • Day 12 Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,545m) and descend to Lobuche (4940m); 8-9 hrs

    You will wake up early in the morning and begin ascending towards the famous Kala Patthar viewpoint. Situated above the base camp, this viewpoint offers outstanding landscape and 360-degree of the Everest. The trail will be steep and rocky. Later, follow the same path and drop down to Lobuche.

  • Day 13 Lobuche to Dzongla (4,830m); 3-4 hrs

    Following a downhill trail, you descend to Dzongla, located on the right bank of Dudh Koshi River. The trail will be serene and offers breath-taking views. Likewise, you will also see some gorgeous icy lakes along the way.

  • Day 14 Trek to Gokyo village (4,800m) via Cho La Pass (5,368m); 7-8 hrs

    Wake up early and get ready for the long day. Enjoying the marveling sight of Mt. Cholatse, you begin ascending along the moraines and small lakes. The trail will gradually take you to the top of the Cho La Pass. The views from this pass are mind-blowing. From here, the trail descends to Ngozumpa Glacier (longest glacier in Nepal) and continues towards Thangnak. Further, you will walk on the glacier path and reach the picturesque Gokyo village.

  • Day 15 Rest day in Gokyo: Climb Gokyo Ri (5,357m); 3-4 hrs

    Today is a rest day in Gokyo village. You will hike to Gokyo Ri from where the gorgeous landscape is visible. Later, visit the stunning Gokyo Lake. Spend some time here and return to Gokyo village. Enjoy the rest of the day relaxing and observing the daily lifestyle of the villagers.

  • Day 16 Gokyo to Marlung (4,210m) via Renjo La Pass (5,360m); 7-8 hrs

    The trail from Gokyo to Marlung involves the third pass called Renjo La Pass. Ascend along a steep and rocky trail to reach the top of the pass, from where you can see stunning views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Taboche, and many others. Further, you will follow a downhill path, which gets narrow and rocky as you reach Lumde. From here, a short walk takes you to Marlung.

  • Day 17 Marlung to Namche Bazaar; 5-6 hrs

    From Marlung, the trail descends to Namche Bazar. You will follow an old trade route between Tibet and Nepal. The trail goes through Thame and lush forests before reaching Namche Bazar.

  • Day 18 Namche Bazaar to Lukla; 6-7 hrs

    It is time to say goodbye to Mt. Everest. Descend steeply along the Dudh Koshi River and lush alpine forest. Crossing many small streams, suspension bridges, and villages, you reach Phakding. From here, you walk along a river and ascend to Lukla via a forested path.

  • Day 19 Lukla to Kathmandu; 40 minutes flight

    An early morning flight takes you back to Kathmandu. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and shopping. Meet the team for the last time at the farewell dinner organized by the company. Later, stroll on the vibrant streets of Thamel and end the day.

  • Day 20 Final departure

    Today, you will leave Nepal and return to your home country/next destination. You will leave the hotel as per your flight departure time. One of our team members will escort you to the airport and bid you our last goodbye until we meet next time.
