Langtang, Gosainkunda and Helambu Trek Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)
Day 2 Sightseeing and trek preparation
We have arranged a guided sightseeing tour for you today. The tour will take you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhnath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, etc. After the tour, you will rest and begin preparation for the trek. Meet the trek guide and pack all the necessities. The guide will also brief you about the trail and the highlights.
Day 3 Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m); 7-8 hours
The drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi is long and scenic. Following a winding road, you will drive. On the way, you can see settlement areas, terraced fields, and green hills. If the weather is clear, then stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Mt. Annapurna, and Mt. Manaslu are also visible.
Day 4 Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m); 6 hours
The trail moves along the Langtang Khola. The landscape is beautiful, and the fresh air will revive your soul. The trail ascends and descends along with the forests of rhododendron & oak. You will cross a bridge over Langtang Khola and steeply climb to Lama Hotel.
Day 5 Trek to Mundu (3,543m) via Langtang Village; 6-7 hours
From Lama Hotel, the trail gradually ascends to Mundu. On the way, you will pass by numerous gorgeous waterfalls. Likewise, the views of mountains and meadows will accompany you during the walk. The trail will take you to Ghoda Tabela, from where the views of Langtang Range come into sight. The trail continues to ascend and pass by a few temporary residence areas before reaching Langtang Village.
Day 6 Mundu to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m); 4-5 hours
Kyanjin Gompa is one of the significant monasteries for people living in this area. From Langtang village, you will pass by water mills, chortens, prayer flags, and inscribed rocks. You also pass by the biggest mani wall in Nepal. Enjoying the surreal views of the Himalayan mountains and lush green hills, you reach Kyanjin Gompa.
Day 7 Acclimatization: explore Tserko Ri (5,000m); 7-8 hours
Today, you will spend the day exploring around Kyanjin Gompa. You will go on a short hike to Tserko Ri in the morning. It is a viewpoint that offers amazing landscapes and panoramic views of snow-capped mountains. Later in the day, you will visit the gompa and relax.
Day 8 Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel; 6-7 hours
After having a warm breakfast, you begin trekking following the same trail you used before to reach here. The route goes through lush forests and remote villages. You can see tempting views of mountains along the way.
Day 9 Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,230m); 5-6 hours
The trail from Lama Hotel gradually ascends towards Thulo Syabru. Two trails lead to this place. You will follow the route that passes by Pahare. First, you will descend to the bank of Langtang Khola and continue trekking to Bamboo. From here, you climb and reach Thulo Syabru.
Day 10 Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa; 3-4 hours
To make sure your body properly acclimatizes to the altitude, we have designed this day short and gentle. The trail passes by a chorten, and you reach Checkpoint. From here, you trek in the south direction towards Garta village. Visit the Phulung monastery before reaching Shin Gompa.
Day 11 Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda (4,460m); 5-6 hours
You will get to see breath-taking views today. The trail slowly ascends to Gosaikunda Lake, a pilgrimage site in Nepal. This lake has a very important religious significance for the Nepalese. Along the trail, you can see views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Hiunchuli, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang Range.
Day 12 Gosaikunda to Ghopte (3,440m); 6-8 hours
Today, you will cross the Laurebina Pass (4,610 m). From the lake, the trail ascends towards the pass, following a rugged path. From the top of the pass, you can see an outstanding surrounding view. From here onwards, the Helambu region begins. You will descend to Melamchi Valley. Trekking on a rough path, you will cross moraines and ascend to a hill. Further, pass by Surya Kunda and reach Ghopte.
Day 13 Ghopte to Melamchi Gaon (2,560m); 6-7 hours
Leaving Ghopte behind, you will drop down through dense forests and reach Thare Pati village. From here, you will climb to a ridge and continue trekking. The trail then crosses two suspension bridges and takes you to beautiful Melamchi Gaon.
Day 14 Melamchi Gaon to Tarkeghyang (2,590m); 5-6 hours
Passing by a stupa, you will cross a small stream and continue trekking through lush forests. From Ama Yangri, the trail descends to a forested route and follows a path made of broken stone that leads to Tarke Gyang. Along the way, you will see closer views of Langtang Range and Mt. Shishapangma.
Day 15 Tarke Gyang to Sermathang (2,610m); 3-5 hours
Today, the trail is easy and short. Walking by lush forests and picturesque villages, you will reach Sermathang. On the way, you also pass by chortens and monasteries. Likewise, you can see superb views of Ganesh Himal, Jugal Himal, and Langtang Range. Moreover, on the clear bright days, views of Mt. Everest is also visible.
Day 16 Trek to Melamchi Bazar, drive to Kathmandu; 3-4 hours trek & 2 hours drive
Have breakfast and trek through meadows, fields, and villages to reach Melamchi Bazar. From here, you will drive to Kathmandu, enjoying the outskirts of Kathmandu. The remaining day is leisure. You can explore around the hotel and shop for souvenirs. In the late evening, join a farewell dinner organized by Vyas Trek.
Day 17 Final departure
This is the end of your trek in this Himalayas country. You will leave for your home today. Our airport representative will drop you at the International Airport as per the flight departure time.
