Trekking along the Makalu Barun National Park, you will reach the Makalu Base Camp, the lap of the world's fifth highest mountain, Mt. Makalu. Makalu Base Camp Trek is an adventurous trek, which is done by only a handful of travelers every year. This trek is not as famous as other trekking areas like Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Therefore, the region is less crowded and offers an unspoiled landscape. If you are someone looking for a tranquil trekking trail in the Himalayas with an equal share of off beaten track and wilderness, then Makalu Base Camp Trekking is the perfect package for you.

The fun fact about Makalu Barun National Park is that it is the only national park in the world that gains elevation above 8,000 meters. The national park ranges from lush tropical forests in the south to high alpine forests and towering Himalayan mountains in the north. This national park is home to some of the rare wildlife, exotic birds, and exclusive flora. The isolation of the region from the rest of Nepal has preserved the nature and the rich cultural heritage of the locals who reside here. The area was closed for foreigners till 1950 when Eric Shipton trekked into the Makalu region.

During the Makalu Base Camp Trek 22 Days, you will trek through picturesque villages, where you will get to see the lifestyle and tradition of the locals. Along the trail, you will also come across very old stupas, chortens, prayer wheels, and prayer flags. Likewise, you will cross four high passes- Shipton La Pass (4,127 m), Keke La Pass (4,230 m), Tutu La Pass (4,200 m), and Kauma La Pass. From the top of all of these passes, you will get to see breathtaking landscapes. You will be accompanied by panoramic views of mountains like Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Makalu (8,481 m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Baruntse (7,129 m), Chamlang (7.319 m), and numerous others.

Upon reaching the Makalu Base Camp, you will find yourself surrounded by white Himalayan giants. The feeling of accomplishment will run throughout your veins, making the moment very proud and content. Makalu Base Camp Trek offers a lifetime journey that follows off beaten secluded track. You will learn big life lessons during the trek and get ample time to unwind & reflect on your life. Go through our more information section to know more about the Makalu Base Camp Trek package.
