On your arrival day, you will meet with our airport representative near the terminal gate. He will greet you and take you to the hotel. As per the time availability, you will meet with the trek guide and prepare for the trip. You can shop if anything is missing. In the late evening, there will be a welcome dinner organized by the company during which you will meet with other team members.
Sherpa Culture Trek Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m)
Day 2 Sightseeing and preparation for the trek
This extra day is for the preparation of the EBC trek. In the morning, you will visit a few UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, extra. Later, in the afternoon, you meet the trek guide. He will brief you about the trail and do the final packing along with you. Re-check all the gears and permits. Also, you can do shopping if needed.
Day 3 Fly to Lukla (2,800m) then trek to Phakding (2,652m); 40 min flight & 3-4 hours trek
The day begins early with a delicious breakfast. After that, you will leave the hotel and drive to the airport to take a short flight to Lukla. The flight will give you plentiful adrenaline to get you ready for this adventurous journey. Land at the Lukla Airport and meet with the rest of the crew members who will join you for the trek.
The trail slowly descends through a forested path along a river. Pass by Ghat village and trek towards Phakding. You can see a beautiful view of Mt. Kusum Kanguru from this village.
Day 4 Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m); 5-6 hours
The trail from Phakding onwards goes through Sagarmatha National Park and leads you to Namche Bazar. Monjo is the starting point of the park. The trail gradually ascends through dense forests, crossing many bridges & streams. Along the way, you can see diverse vegetation and fauna. The trail will be steep and tough on
Day 5 Acclimatization day
It is a rest day in Namche Bazar. This village is known as the tourist hub of the Khumbu region. Many cafes with WiFi services are here. Likewise, you can also visit the Everest Photo Gallery and the Sherpa Culture Museum. But first, you will go on a hike to the Everest View Hotel and Syangboche Airstrip. Both of these places are famous viewpoints.
Day 6 Namche Bazaar to Thame (3,736m); 5 - 6 hours
From Namche Bazar, the trail ascends to Thame. You will stop for lunch at some teahouses. The trail then crosses a bridge over Theshyo Khola and leads you to the traditional village of Thame. You can see nice views of the mountains from this village.
Day 7 Thame to Khumjung (3,786m); 5 hours
The trail from Thame onwards descends along a rocky trail to a river bed. From here, you will ascend to a ridge, enjoying scenic views of mountains. The trail passes through lush forests and takes you to Khumjung for a night stay. This village houses an ancient monastery, which has stored the skull of the Yeti.
Day 8 Khumjung to Phortse (3,542m); 5 hours
The trail ascends along a steep path. You can see gorgeous landscapes on the trail today. Reach Mongla Pass (3,957 m) from where you will see Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Ama Dablam, and Mt. Khumbila. Further, drop down to Dudh Koshi Khola and cross a bridge over the trail. Trekking through lush forests of rhododendron, you reach Phortse. If you are lucky, then you might get to see wild deer and musk deer on the way.
Day 9 Phortse to Pangboche (3,985m); 4-5 hours
From Phortse, you will be following a narrow path that further descends to a monastery. Walking through dense alpine forests, you reach Pangboche for a night stay.
Day 10 Pangboche to Tengboche (3,864m); 2 hours
The trail from here onwards goes through lush forests of rhododendron. You will trek through small villages and reach Tengboche. This village has the oldest and the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region, the Tengboche monastery. You can see stunning views of the Himalayan mountains from here.
Day 11 Tengboche to Namche Bazaar; 5-6 hours
The trail descends through lush forests and small villages. You get to see several mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, etc along the way to Namche Bazar.
Day 12 Namche Bazaar to Lukla; 6-7 hours
It is time to say goodbye to Mt. Everest. Descend steeply along the Dudh Koshi River and lush alpine forest. Crossing many small streams, suspension bridges, and villages, you reach Phakding. From here, you walk along a river and ascend to Lukla via a forested path.
Day 13 Fly to Kathmandu
You will take a morning flight back to Kathmandu. During the flight, witness the last views of the Himalayas and break-taking scenery. Upon landing at Kathmandu, move to the hotel. The rest of the day is free. Relax and do shopping. In the evening, meet with team members for the last time over the farewell dinner organized by the company.
Day 14 Final departure
Time to say goodbye to each other. Your journey with us comes to an end. You will leave for your home or next destination today. Airport drop is included as per your flight departure time.
