Tamang Heritage Trek Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)

    Land at the Airport, where one of our team members will pick you up and take you to the hotel. You can rest for a few hours and later meet with other team members over a welcome dinner organized by Vyas Trek. After dinner, spend some time strolling in the vibrant streets of Thamel before returning to the hotel.

  • Day 2 Sightseeing and trek preparation

    Today, you will go on a guided sightseeing tour after having breakfast. During the tour, you get to know Nepali art, architecture, and history. You will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhnath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square. There are still many monuments in Kathmandu, but visiting all of them in one day is not possible. In the late afternoon, you will meet with the trek guide and prepare for the trip. Go through the packing list and check all the gears & documents twice.

  • Day 3 Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m); 8-9 hours

    From Kathmandu, you will drive towards Syabrubesi, the entrance of Langtang valley. On the way, you can see beautiful lush green hills, terraced fields, small settlement areas, and snow-capped mountains in the distance. Following a winding trail, the ride plunges to the Trishuli river and continues to the destination.

  • Day 4 Trek begins: Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2,200m); 5 hours

    The trail from Syabrubesi ascends to a viewpoint that offers stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range, and Goljang valley. After enjoying the views, you will follow a downhill path that takes you to Goljang valley. Take a small break for lunch and trek for three more hours to reach Gatlang.

  • Day 5 Gatlang to Tatopani (2,607m); 6-7 hours

    The trail descends to Thangbuchet. You will take a small break for lunch and continue trekking following an uphill trail. The trail crosses a hanging bridge and ascends to Tatopani. It is a famous village for natural hot springs. Later in the day, enjoy some time in the hot springs and end the day with delicious dinner.

  • Day 6 Tatopani to Thuman (2,400m) via Brimdang and Nagthali; 6 hours

    From Tatopani, you ascend to Brimdang, where you will stop by to have lunch. From here, you follow an uphill trail that leads to Nagthali Danda (3,300 m). It is an open-high grassland from where you can see amazing views of the Himalayas. The trail then drops down to Thuman, a lovely Tamang village.

  • Day 7 Thuman to Briddim (2,345m); 6 hours

    Today, you will be following a part of the old trade route between Tibet and Nepal. From Thuman, you will walk on a flat trail and gradually descend to Timure. From here, three hours of the walk will take you to Tibet, but you are not allowed to walk across the border, and there will be massive police protection along the border area. From Timure, you will trek towards Briddim for a night stay.

  • Day 8 Briddim to Lama Hotel (2470m); 6 hours

    After having breakfast, you will descend and walk along the Ghophe Khola. The trail then takes you to Rimche, and you will continue trekking along the Langtang Khola. Further, walk and reach Lama Hotel for a night stay. This village is surrounded by green hills and offers fantastic views of the Himalayan mountains

  • Day 9 Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,430m); 6-7 hours

    Walking along a river, you ascend through a lush forest of pine, rhododendron, oak, etc. The trail further goes through the narrow river valley and opens up at Ghora Tabela (3,030 m). Here, you will register your permit at Army Checkpoint and continue trekking towards Langtang village. Before reaching Langtang village, you pass by Chyamki village and ancient chortens.

  • Day 10 Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m); 4 hours

    Following a trail that leads to Sindum, you begin the day. From here onwards, the trail takes you to Yamphu, and you will cross the Laja Khla. Further, the trail ascends to Kyanjin Gompa that offers a captivating landscape and views of Langtang Lirung. Later in the day, hike to Tserko Ri, a viewpoint that offers breath-taking views of mountains, glaciers, and icefalls. Likewise, you will visit ancient monasteries and a Cheese Factory. You also have an optional hike to Langshisa Kharka.

  • Day 11 Trek back to Lama Hotel (2,380m); 4-5 hours

    Today, the trail follows the same trail back to Lama Hotel. Enjoying beautiful views of mountains and fine villages, you descend through dense forests to reach Lama Hotel.

  • Day 12 Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi; 5 hours

    It is your last trekking day. From Lama Hotel, the trail gradually descends along the Langtang River. Further, you drop down through dense forests and cross the Langtang river & Bhote Koshi river to reach Syabrubesi.

  • Day 13 Drive to Kathmandu

    From Syabrubesi, you take a long drive back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you move to the hotel. Today is your last day in Kathmandu. Explore the bustling streets of Thamel, and end the day with a delicious farewell dinner organized by the company.

  • Day 14 Final departure

    The journey comes to an end. We will help you move to the airport as per your flight departure time.
